Weary In Well Doing.
Weariness! It comes by doing the same thing over and over again, with seemingly no results. You go to church and return home time after time and yet you seem to only get weary of it. You participate in community affairs for the good of others and at first, you are overjoyed at the prospect of helping others only to find that after while, you’re the only one that is really “carrying the ball,” as they say. Perhaps you’ve joined a new club, thinking that it will not only provide an avenue for you to meet other people but also experience exciting new adventures. That too, after so long has become mundane.
Many have started new relationships, only to find that after while they yield the same results as did the former ones. A new car, house, or job fills the bill for awhile until the newness wears off, the payment book gets a little heavy, or hidden responsibilities are finally exposed. You become weary of it all: church, school, work, even family.
Many have turned to drugs, sex, alcohol, gambling, pornography, even a new religion but they come out the same way they went in, weary.
Even those who proclaim to be Christians become weary at times. They say the same prayers, read the same scriptures, go through the same formalities at church, and sing the same songs only to be weary at the end of the day. They trudge on though because they know that the Apostle Paul said in Galatians 6: 9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” But is that God’s will for his people to be weary or beat down by the same-o-same-o?
The question should be this? Have you drunk from the fountain lately? Have you tasted of the bread of heaven lately? Our Lord said in Matthew 11 verses 28 through 30, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” It is not the will of God that anyone should be laden with weariness. No, not anyone, not even you.
Jesus met a woman once who was weary. He asked for a drink of water which started an interesting discussion which eventually disclosed her life of having five husbands in the past, and living with a man at present. She was weary! She began to ask him about where to worship. She was searching for something but couldn’t find it. He finally said, “…the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:23-24 Can you worship him in spirit and truth. Are you truly one of His? If you are, then you should be able to do so. Yes, there are times of testing and times of trials, but if you’re are truly a child of God, you should be able to worship Him in the spirit of truth and be uplifted.
I’ll never forget the day I was saved. I don’t really remember the pray I said but I do remember saying something like, “Jesus, I want all of you.” I drank from the fountain that day and felt like could “walk on eggs.” After nearly twenty-nine years, I’m still drinking from the fountain, and now from the river of the Holy Ghost. You can too. Let Him into your life. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and cleanse you of your sins! Church member, re-dedicate yourself to God and re-kindle that fire and relationship you once had with Him. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10) “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37)
If your life were to end this night and you aren’t ABSOLUTELY SURE you would be with Jesus in Heaven, commit you life to Christ, repenting from your sins and dedicating or rededicating your life to Him who can not only save your soul from a devils hell, but can keep you from “weariness.”
