FBCNN Youth Ministry is...
BIBLE STUDY – Sundays 9:45 am – 10:45 am
Sunday mornings begin with all youth (grades 6 to 12) gathered together for a brief time of fellowship, sharing, and reflection. Youth then break into grade specific groups for a time of in-depth Bible study. These studies are Bible based and engaging. Our teachers are devoted and experienced in making the Bible come alive as they strive to show scripture to be exciting and relevant for today’s youth, their culture, and today’s life encounters.
BIBLE STUDY – Sundays 7:00 pm – 8 pm
DIG DEEPER!! What does the Bible really say? How do you read and study the bible? Have you ever wondered how the Old Testament is connected to the New Testament? How are over 300 prophesies of Christ in the Old Testament fulfilled in the New? This highly interactive time of bible study really gets to the meat of the matter. Designed to go deeper and enable our youth to answer the questions that their friends may ask.
YOUTH WORSHIP AND ACTIVITIES – Wednesday 7:00 pm – 7:45 pm
Worship is a central focus of our faith journey as Christians. Our Wednesday night service is designed as an entry point for our youth to invite their friends. It is an exciting time of youth led worship geared for youth in grade 6 to 12. Our Youth Praise team provides leadership in our contemporary music followed by a clear message from God’s word that allows youth to celebrate God in their lives.
FELLOWSHIP AND ACTIVITIES
Our youth ministry offers a wide variety of student fellowships and activities on a regular basis. First Sunday night fellowship is held the first Sunday evening of each month offering a different activity each month. All of our activities are open to all youth in grades 6 to 12. Many events are planned with some being for our youth group as well as others that are planned with other youth across the Peninsula. Family activities are also planned on a regular basis in order to provide families an opportunity to participate in our activities together and to get to know one another.
RETREATS AND CONFERENCES
Opportunties are offered throughout the year for our youth to participate in local, statewide, and out of state retreats and conferences. This past summer our youth participated in events such as; Kingsfest at Kings Dominion, the Peninsula Baptist Association Work camp (building and renovation projects for the needy), Student Life Camp at Eastern University, and a missions trip to the Eastern Shore working with migrant workers and their families. As we look forward to the summer of 2007 our youth will be participating in a choir tour that will take them to Orlando Florida from June 30th to July 8th.
RECREATION
We currently participate in a co-ed softball team and flag football. Our teams are open to all youth grades 6-12. If you don’t have a desire to play then be a SuperFAN and come out and support your friends.
A FINAL WORD
The focus of the youth ministry of First Baptist Church Newport News is to know and make Jesus Christ known as Lord and Savior. We strive to help our youth develop a personal relationship with Him. Our events and activities is to provide our youth opportunities and a safe environment for fun and fellowship with their friends.
