Concerning the guitar,

 Jazz or Blues
 Rock
 Doesn't matter - mix it up!
   

By the end of the class, I'd like to be able to
Play lots of chords
 Play bar chords too!
 Play chords and learn scales
 All of the above AND write a song too!
 All of the above AND play a song for the class!
 OK - I'm brave - All of the above and play and SING for the class too!
