"Easter"?

How It All Started....

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. He created all things on earth and in heaven including all of the angels. The most beautiful angel in heaven was Lucifer. He rebelled against God, along with 1/3 of the angels in heaven. God threw Lucifer and the third of angels that rebelled, out of His presence and condemned them to the fiery hell that He made for them., but He allowed them to roam the earth until He was ready to punish them.

God created the first man He named, Adam. Then He made a woman, from Adam’s rib bone and called her Eve. Adam and Eve tended the garden of Eden. They were told that they could eat from any tree in the garden, except from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

One day Lucifer, now called Satan or the devil, tempted Eve to eat the fruit of Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. She had a CHOICE to make. Was she going to obey God? or Was she going to do what she wanted to do? She CHOSE to DISOBEY God. That was the first sin. She gave the fruit to Adam and he, also, CHOSE to DISOBEY God. ALL of the children they had and ALL their descendants were born with the sin nature. We all have sin in us.

Every single person is born with sin. If you don't think this includes you, because you are a good person, I have a little test for you-some quick questions. Be honest in your answers!

Have you ever lied? Everyone lies, that would make you a liar.

Have you taken anything that wasn't yours? If you have, that makes you a thief.

Have you looked at anyone to lust after them(desire them sexually)? The Bible says that if you look at someone to lust after them you commit adultery. If you've done that, it you makes you an adulterer.

Do you honor your parents, even if you're an adult? If you don't, you are guilty of breaking the fifth commandment.

These are just a few of the Ten Commandments that God will judge us against when we die. If you have broken any of them, you are guilty and are in danger of going to Hell when you die. You may say, "I've asked forgiveness, so I'm not going there." That's not good enough.

Think about our court system, if you broke the law and had a fine that you couldn't possibly pay, you would be sent to prison. You can ask the judge for forgiveness all you want, but the fine has to be paid. Just think, if someone that you don't even know said that they'd pay the fine for you and you would be free to go, how would you feel? Jesus did that for you. He paid your debt by dying on the cross and rising again just for you and I.

Sin separates us from God. God is holy and righteous. He can’t be near sin. God had to make a way for Adam and Eve to atone their sin. He showed them how to sacrifice a lamb, for their sin. This turned into a “religious form or exercise.” From the beginning of time, God desired an intimate relationship with His people. So there came a time when God was no longer pleased with the “lamb sacrifices”. BUT there IS GOOD NEWS!! God loved us so much that He gave His one and only Son, Jesus, that whoever believes in Him, will not go to hell, but will have eternal life in heaven with Him. That is how we ended up with Christmas. It is a remembrance of the Birth of Jesus.

See, an empty tomb!!!

Jesus arose from the dead!

This true story continues...Jesus grew up in stature and wisdom. He grew in favor with God, and in favor with men. He never sinned, although He was tempted by the devil. He performed countless miracles. You can read all about His life on earth in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Jesus died on the cross for us. He paid the price of sin for us. He gave us eternal life, if we choose to have it. After He died. They placed Him in a tomb. He was there for 3 days.

This is what Easter is all about. He arose from the dead. There were many witnesses to His resurrection! This made the way to be able to spend our lives, after death, in heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus. He wants us to know Him personally. He loves us. That’s why God gave us His Son, Jesus, as a gift. All we have to do is receive Him as our own personal Lord and Savior.
