About Barnabas Ministries
Barnabas
Ministries is a life long
adventure from Daniel's birth to the present
day. In some form or fashion Daniel has always enjoyed bringing
encouragement into the lives of those around him. The first form of
encouragement he was able to share actually took place without his even
trying... when the Lord brought him into the lives of his parents and family.
While growing up, Daniel's family moved
around quite a bit throughout the Midwestern states. Even though this
brought great difficulties in establishing and keeping life-long friendships,
and relationships, the Lord was able to use even this experience in a most
wonderful and positive way. These events required the family to grow close
together and depend on each other, requiring then to be a strong family
relying on each other - the family became life-long friends in the
process. To this day Daniel's father is a best friend and dear
brother (in-Christ).
In the late '70's
- early 80's, the Lord allowed the grand opportunity for Daniel to serve
as a Summer Missionary with Child Evangelism Fellowship (C.E.F.) of
Minnesota, Inc. Through this training, he was instructed how to work
with children and to share the gospel in a backyard setting, and at camp
(Camp Good News).
The 7 years spent
with C.E.F. were some of the most rewarding and blessed experienced. The training became a great foundation, along with the wonderful training Daniels
parents gave me, to help prepare him for the years to come - both as an
individual and as a child of God.
If you read ECHO (Volume 1 - Edition 11, Volume 5 - Edition 14,and/or Volume 4 -
Edition 18), you can share in a story about a young lady named Pennie.
This account took place at Camp Good News, during the Summer Missionary
Training Program. Pennie had a low personal self esteem. The Lord
guided Daniel to share God's encouragement - and in return in God returned
blessings as he was allowed the opportunity to see how a few godly words,
directed in a kind manner, can influence and uplift others. The desire
for Daniel to share encouragement with others was so very real even at
that point in his life.
The valued friendship's accumulated
over those seven years was both rewarding and a blessing. During the
school years Christian teenage friends would communicate regularly
through the U.S. Postal System (and on occasion, by phone) with Daniel. This was long before the era of the Personal Computer and the ability to have
e-mail/internet access. These personalized messages were encouraging to
both the sender's and recipient's, and it was here where Daniel first began to
see a great potential for written (and verbal) encouragement.
In the mid 1980's,
Daniel joined the military. He was transferred to the High Desert region
of Southern California where the Lord directed him to a wonderful church in
Apple Valley.
One Sunday
morning, the pastor shared a message where the name "Barnabas"
popped up. This name intrigued Daniel, especially the description
used (Son of Encouragement), and it ECHOed in his
mind... and still rings loudly in his thoughts this very day. From that moment
on, BARNABAS MINISTRIES began to transition from an idea and thought into
a reality.
After his first
enlistment ended, Daniel moved back to the Midwest states. There he attended Bible
schooling, and was married to his best friend, Julee.
E.C.H.O.
became an inspired idea in November, 1996 and was first published in
1997. E.C.H.O.'s first internet connection was with a company called
apci.net, with an e-mail address of Barnabas
@
apci.net. Due
to some difficulties with apci, Barnabas Ministries/E.C.H.O. switched internet
providers, and the home web page was transferred to a free hosting facility at www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/4684/barnabas.htm
(this was basically a mirrored copy of what was originally at
www.apci.net/~barnabas).
You still might be able to view the "geocities/yahoo" sight, but
E.C.H.O. no longer has access or control to that web location, and no changes
or updates have been made since 1999.

Daniel graduated
from Brookes
Bible Inst.
and was allowed the wonderful opportunity to serve in the front office of his
church, Edgemont
Bible Church. During these 6 years of service at Edgemont, ECHO began to grow and develop
into the e-zine it has become today.
In 2002,
Daniel re-enlisted back into the military, and was transferred to Washington
state, where ECHO is now developed and published. Daniel is affiliated
with IFCA,
Intl, and
is a member of Sunset
Bible Church.
ECHO has been
serving the world wide web close to a decade. The ministry has literally reached people
around the world (via internet
and in person). But ECHO does not look so much as
to the numbers it has reached to, but the quality of impact it has made on
those it has touched.
If you
enjoy ECHO, please feel free to drop a note and let us know at EncourageOthers@msn.com,
and share a copy with a friend or two...
