"Therefore,
as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are
of the household of faith . . . .
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health
to the bones . . . .
Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one
another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous;"

Today,
in reflection of our yesterday, with great hope for tomorrow,
we remember our sunsets, looking contently confident towards the
Sonrise. We remember those who have stood firm in the
fight for our faith, hope, and freedom. We honor those
who have gone before us, carrying the torch, which lights our way to
truth, honor, and life.
Pressing forward, sharing in the same excellence of the
flame, passing the enkindling hope to the generations ahead, may we
passionately be so bold, strong, and courageous that we may also
stand firm with valor, compassion, and confidence in the
contending hope which God has given us.

. . Revive me, O LORD, according to your word.”
(Psalms

|
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,

WALK
Teach
me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to
fear Your name. (Ps
86:11)
Teach
– to flow as water (i.e. to rain); transitively, to
lay or throw (especially an arrow, i.e. to shoot); figuratively, to
point out (as if by aiming the finger), to teach: direct, inform,
instruct, shew,
Your way
– a road (as trodden); figuratively, a course of
life or mode of action
Walk – to walk (in a great variety of applications,
literally and figuratively):--(all) behave, be conversant, + follow
+ greater, grow
Truth – certainty,
truth, trustworthiness:--assured(-ly), establishment, faithful,
right, sure, true (-ly, -th), verity.
Unite – join, unite.
Ps
84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace
and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk
uprightly.
Ps
116:9 I will walk before the LORD In the land of the living.
Ps
119:35 ¶ Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, For I
delight in it.
Which
speaks louder – our “walk” or our talk?
Or do they both say the same thing?

“If
then you were raised with Christ, seek those things
which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right
hand of God. Set
your mind on things above,
not on things on the earth.
For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ
in God.”

- EDITOR's
CORNER
|
|
Dear Friends,
Thank you for your
patience, since the previous edition.
Summer has ended, fall is here, and the new school year is
underway for many. Since
the prior publication, much has happened in [our] household.
In short, we have reevaluated our family commitment and are
perusing to see this commitment to the New Year, and Lord willing
beyond. And on a personal note, God is continuing to mold me and work
in my life through circumstances and events.
My ultimate goal and desire is to be a Christ like example
for the world to see and know the love of God… and there is a lot
yet that HE will need to work on in me to make e as HE wants me to
be. My life verse (Php
1:6) expresses this truth greatly:
Being confident of
this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete
it until the day of Jesus Christ; (NKJV)
The
KJV uses the word perform in place of complete, and
the NASB uses the word perfect.
The
Greek word used here “epiteleo” (ep-ee-tel-eh'-o) expresses the
desire and commitment to fulfill further (or completely), i.e.
execute, accomplish, do, finish, (make) (perfect).
The
work that God has initiated in every believer will continue to be
developed and matured until the day of Jesus Christ!
How awesome to know that even when we feel like giving up on
God, or quitting, or sitting on the side lines… God never does
that with us. He
continues, and at the right intensity that we need it at too!
I
recently played a game on the computer with my 3 (soon to be 4) year
old son. We
played Flight Sim 2004. I
was able to hook up an old joystick along with a new one, and use
both at the same time. The
setup was almost like having a pilot & co-pilot at the controls.
Both controls worked well enough to handle the simulated
aircraft in the air. Both
would elevate or lower the plane, or turn it in any direction;
however, there was one complication, when one controller decided to
turn the airplane in one direction, and the second controller tried
directing the aircraft in a different pattern, the simulation would
act up and fly in a crazy pattern.
Ultimately, the end result was, the plane could not fly both
directions and its purpose could not be accomplished.
When
we try to accomplish the tasks and routines in life on our own
strength, and set God and HIS will aside of our own plans, the
results are similar to the above event.
The purpose of our existence becomes fuzzy to us; we may even
act a bit crazy or ridiculous.
And in many instances, we might even feel like we are going
to plummet down, uncontrollably, spinning in a dive that will
ultimately lead to a crash.
But,
when we let go of the controls, and allow God to move, guide, and
direct us, a beautiful flight in life takes place.
Sometimes it seems so hard just to let go and allow God to
have full control. But
we must, to allow HIS work to be accomplished in HIS time according
to HIS plan for us.
Most sincerely
yours,
Daniel

“Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it
abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in
this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If
any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant
be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”

(1 John 4:4-6)
OF
GOD, OR OF THE WORLD?
I. YOU ARE OF GOD, LITTLE CHILDREN,
1. AND HAVE
OVERCOME THEM,
2. BECAUSE HE
WHO IS IN YOU IS GREATER THAN HE WHO IS IN THE WORLD.
II. THEY ARE OF THE WORLD
1. THEREFORE
THEY SPEAK AS OF THE WORLD
2. AND THE
WORLD HEARS THEM.
III. WE ARE OF GOD
1. HE WHO
KNOWS GOD HEARS US
2. HE WHO IS
NOT OF GOD DOES NOT HEAR US.
3. BY THIS WE
KNOW
A.
THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH
B.
AND THE SPIRIT OF ERROR.
I. YOU ARE OF GOD, LITTLE CHILDREN:
As
a true child of God, we have overcome “them.”
Who are “THEM?” This
word, in verse 4, points right back to verse 3 where we see the spirit of
antichrist affecting those who do not confess Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Who
has come in the flesh and has come to save us of our sins.
We have overcome “them” because we are of God, and if
we are of God, then God dwells in us -- and “He
who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
Some promising words of
hope and comfort:
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
The LORD is on my
side; I will not fear. What
can man do to me? (Psalms 118:6)
If the Spirit of God lives within us, we can do all things (Phil.
4:13)... all things through Christ who gives us the strength!
The LORD is on our side! Those
are some real encouraging words and thoughts!
The God who created all we see is on our side, is greater than any other
thing we know, and gives us the strength to do all things for HIM!
II. THEY ARE OF THE WORLD:
The world hears their own and
speaks to their own, but are confused when it comes to spiritual matters of God.
God’s
Word informs us:
·
If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me
before it hated you. (John 15:18)
·
He was in the world, and the world was
made through Him, and the world did not know Him. (John 1:10)
·
For God so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have
everlasting life. For God did not
send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him
might be saved. (John 3:16-17)
·
And this is the condemnation, that the
light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because
their deeds were evil. (John 3:19)
·
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying,
"I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness,
but have the light of life. (John 8:12)
·
And if anyone hears My words and does
not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to
save the world. (John 12:47)
·
If you were of the world, the world would love its
own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world,
therefore the world hates you. (John 15:19)
Jesus
came to be a light to this world... but
darkness does not like light. Have
you ever been in such a deep sleep, waking up thirsty or requiring to care for a
need of any other sort, and as soon as you turn on the light your eyes burned
with excruciating pain from the extreme sudden light that you could not keep
them open? Why is this?
Because we were residing in a darkened condition, and our eyes – being
conditioned by that darkness – was not able to handle or use the light as it
was revealed to us.
Jesus
is the light of the world. The
world is in the darkness of sin, and the pain they receive from the light
pierces through them, exposes them, and hurts their pride. The world doesn’t want to see this, and so they despise
anything that exposes them to others (or even to themselves). so they Hate
Christ, and if Christ is in us, they hate us.
But again, greater is He who is in us, then he who is in the world!
The love of God is more precious
and wonderful then the love of the world!
III. WE ARE OF GOD
