in reflection of our yesterday, with great hope for tomorrow,
we remember our sunsets, looking contently confident towards the
Sonrise. We remember those who have stood firm in the
fight for our faith, hope, and freedom. We honor those
who have gone before us, carrying the torch, which lights our way to
truth, honor, and life.
Pressing forward, sharing in the same excellence of the
flame, passing the enkindling hope to the generations ahead, may we
passionately be so bold, strong, and courageous that we may also
stand firm with valor, compassion, and confidence in the
contending hope which God has given us.

Where
do you ABIDE?
Then Jesus said to those … who believed Him,
“If you abide in My word, you are My
disciples indeed.” (John 8:31)
Believed
–
to have faith (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or
thing), i.e. credit; by implication, to entrust (especially one's
spiritual well-being to Christ):--believe(-r), commit (to trust),
put in trust with.
Abide –
(Continue); to stay (in a given place, state, relation or
expectancy):-- dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, tarry.
Word – logos: something said (including the
thought); (with the article in John) the Divine Expression (i.e.
Christ).
Disciples – a learner, i.e. pupil.
1Jo 2:28 And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He
appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His
coming.

Sunday,
27 Feb 2005, I had a special breakfast time with my 3 years old son,
Jonathen. Jonathen and
I were the first 2 up, early in the morning, so we traveled down
stairs together, hand-in-hand, and sat at the table. After fixing
Jonathen and myself a small bite to eat, I told Jonathen that we
needed to give God thanks for our meal… so we both bowed our
heads, Jonathen covered his eyes with the palms of his hands, and I
gave a thank you prayer for our food.
After
the prayer ended, Jonathen repeated the “AMEN” then looked up at
me gleefully and said, “I like that song.”
That
struck me in a most peculiar way…
“I like that song.”
Hmnnn, considering prayer as a song.
I never really took time to think of prayer that way before.
Out of the mouth of babes! But you know, I have been
known to sing songs of praises in my prayers before… why
shouldn’t prayer be considered as a song?
I am confident that God loves to hear us call out to HIM in
prayer… I can only imagine that our prayers at times come across
to HIM as a sweet song of praise to HIS ears.
The
freedom and ability we have to communicate with our Heavenly Father
is a right that on HIS children have.
So many times our prayers seem to be lifted up only in times
of confusion, trouble, or chaos, but we also need to take the time
up to HIM praise, worship, and godly fellowship.
As
a child of God, we can know the Father has HIS ear open to hear our
prayers… but our prayers need to be more than just a plea for
help, we need to share with our Heavenly Father our good as well as
our bad, our happy as well as our sad.
Prayer takes on a whole new meaning as we learn to ABIDE in
HIM. Prayer becomes
part of our fellowship in a more intimate way.
Let’s
consider today our fellowship with he Lord, and where are
we abiding?

(1 John 2:17-27)
(With The Last Hour at hand…)
Where Do We ABIDE?
THE
WORLD IS PASSING AWAY, AND THE LUST OF IT;
BUT HE WHO DOES THE WILL OF GOD ABIDES FOREVER. (1 JN 2:17)
The last
hour is here… 2000 years ago; the church knew that the last hour was upon us.
And as time ticks by, the minutes go by, and the end of the hour
comes closer and closer. We are
ever so much more closer to the end of the last hour today than ever before.
But exactly how close???? Sorry,
I can’t say, I’m still learning to read time…. J
1 IT IS THE LAST HOUR

KNOW THIS IS THE LAST HOUR (see main point 1)

OUT FROM US, THEY WERE NOT OF US (:19)
a. HE IS ANTICHRIST WHO DENIES THE FATHER AND THE SON

WHO DENIES THAT JESUS IS THE CHRIST IS A LIAR
ANTICHRIST=
THE ADVERSARY OF THE MESSIAH
Today, there are many forms of anti-Christ among us.
We see this through legal matters with the 10 Commandments being thrown
out of courtrooms; prayer rights being striped from classrooms, and true freedom
of speech being removed from the church pulpit.
The spirit of anti-Christ is already among us, and there are few who roam
terrafirma claiming to be Christ. The
60’s – 70’s experienced this through the
man Charles Manson. Today, there are groups “searching” for
the anti-Christ (just do a word search on the internet on “anti-Christ” and
you will find multitude of material). “The”
anti-Christ is not yet among us, actively seen, and working as “the”
anti-Christ; however, he will
arise, as many have done so already, and he will deny the true Christ as the
messiah making claim that he is God, but we know the truth…and we need to
allow the truth to abide in us and flow from us.
And how do we know that truth? It is through the “anointed one” (Holy
Spirit) abiding inside us (see point 2).
“I
have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know
it, and that no lie is of the truth.” (1 John 2:21)
In verse 17John spoke about the world passing away, and here he
goes right into “the last hour.”
The KJV
words this as “the last time.”
LAST= LAST,
REFERRING TO TIME... OF SPACE, THE UTTERMOST PART, THE END, OF THE EARTH
TIME=
ANY DEFINITE TIME, POINT OF TIME,
MOMENT
WE know by the scriptures that there will be a time when this world
(as we know it) will “pass away” (Matt 24: 35 cf. Mark 13:31 &
Luke 21:33; Rev 21:1). This world
will also experience the time of tribulation (seven years, or Daniel’s 70th
week), and the millennial (1000 years) reign of Christ.
The children of God, during John’s day, knew that Christ was
going to come to reign and rule the earth.
They knew it would be soon, from the perspective of God’s view with
time, and they considered greatly the possibly of this occurring during
their lifetime. John gives a brief
description here in these few verses about what will happen before Christ
returns to reign.
Focusing on “the last
hour” consider this:
“A
woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her
hour has come; but as
soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish,
for joy that a human being has been born into the world.”
(John 16:21)
For those of you who have ever given birth, or witnessed the
birthing process; you know that the average birthing takes quite a while from
the point of water breaking to the moment life is officially brought into this
world. Julee and my first-born took
more than 15 hours before he was delivered, and even our quickest birthing time
was still way over the “one hour” (60 minutes)
time frame. And if you would ask my wife, I am certain she would express
that it felt like an eternity. Yet,
scriptures refers to this passage of time as an “hour,” and while going
through that hour, time can often seem to stand still, or move extremely
slowly… but when it is over, and the (majority of the) pain has
ended… rejoicing comes as new life is presented.
The hour seems to fade away in the mind as the joy of a new life is
embraced.
We face a similar “hour” today, the “Last Hour.”
And when that hour is over, “rejoicing” will occur as we will see and
meet our Savior. But we do not have
to wait to start rejoicing, we can rejoice even now knowing that the hour is
nearing the end and knowing that eternity will never cease, realizing that we
who are alive in Christ will remain so (truly alive) throughout eternity
bringing glory, honor, worship, and praise to our God, our Savior, and our
creator!
As we know and share the truth today, let us rejoice knowing that
even in this moment of “the hour” that the Lord remains in full control and
no one or no thing can remove that control from HIS hands.
Let us rejoice knowing that all things will work together for good… for
God’s good (Ro 8:28). Let us rejoice because HE has a plan, and we are in HIS plan
today!

The “last hour” is upon
us… BUT… but we have an
anointing…! KJV uses the word
“unction” in place of the word “anointing”… “unction” meaning
“unguent or smearing, i.e. (figuratively)
the special endowment of the Holy Spirit.” (Unguent
is an ointment, or salve).
“Christ,
the Holy One, has blessed you, and now all of you understand.”
Contemporary English Version
“But
you have had the Holy Spirit poured out on you by Christ, and so all of
you know the truth. “ Good
News bible
There are 153
verses (in the KJV scriptures)
which use the (English)
word’s anoint, anointed, anointing, anointedst, etc.
Anointing commonly refers to consecrating and sanctifying
or medicinal / healing purposes.
The “Holy One”
refers to the Holy Spirit. HOLY
ONE= MOST HOLY THING.
“ye
have an unction from the Holy One. i.e.,
you have been anointed by the Holy Spirit and thus can discern between
truth and error. . . . ” (Ryrie KJV Study Bible)
As a child of God, we have
been anointed by the Holy Spirit (who indwells every true believer – Rom
8:9-11; 1 John 4:13) so that we can know
the truth, God’s perfect truth, and choose right from wrong, good
from bad, and do what is pleasing in the sight of God.
We understand what is acceptable before God and with the power of Christ
with in us; we can do HIS will, and live for HIM. We not only hear and know
God’s truth, but also understand and apply HIS truth in our life.
And through God’s Holy Word, we know the truth about the “last
hour” and that the anti-Christ will indeed come.

We
cannot stop God’s prophecy from happening (nor should we want to stop it).
The last hour will come to an end one of these days (according to God’s
timing). But until that moment (or until the Lord calls us home),
we need abide in God’s Word.
"Abide in Me,
and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the
vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
I am the vine, you are the branches. He who
abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can
do nothing. If anyone does not
abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them
and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in
you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

those who are truly a child of God, born into His family through Jesus
Christ (by His sacrificial death, burial & resurrection) can actually
live a righteous life.
Without Christ, in our wickedness and sin, we cannot be righteous,
but through the blood of Christ our sins have been washed away and God
sees us as righteousness.
