LIFE

In honor to God and the new life HE has blessed my wife and me with.
In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
John 1:4

Here’s an interesting thought to consider (1 Co 15:39). When God made animal life they were alive at the moment of creation, but when God formed man there was no life without the “breath” of God (Ge 2:7). Notice on day 5 (Ge 1:20-23), God created living creatures in the waters and sky, and day six (Ge 1:24-31) the land animal’s were given life, but only with mankind did He “breath” the breath of life into. There is a distinction here, which gives the human race an eternal soul, as God designed the person in the image of Him (Ge 1:26-27). This distinction, between human and animal life, allows mankind to have a personal relationship with the Heavenly Father like no other living creature on this earth can have or know.
Along with “life” came the freedom of choice. Man was able to choose if he would follow God, or go his own way. We see in Ge 3:1-8 what decision was made and with that preference chosen, death then entered into the world (Ro 5:12).
But God did not leave man to die in his own prideful path of destruction. He brought life back into the picture by sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, Who freely gave His life on the cross and paid, in full, the penalty and cost of sin (Ro 6:23; 1 Co 15:3-4, 22, 45).
You may have heard the old saying “Born once, die twice. Born twice, die once?” Again, choice is placed into the picture. First time choice was given (with Adam and Eve), it brought death. A second time choice was given, and it brings life, eternal life, in the hope of Jesus Christ!
As Christ told Nicodemus in John 3:3, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God ", the choice is ours. To receive Christ’s gift of salvation, and to be “born again” (or twice) will mean we will not die eternally (the second death, Rev 20:14-15, 21:18). This is the only way by which our fellowship with our creator can be re-established and re-united.
So, the LORD not only brought life once to us (the first birth, through the womb of our mother), but brought us life twice (through the cross, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ). And with eternal life, through Jesus Christ, our fellowship with the Father has been re-established.
So the question is, if I have life eternal, how should I live my life now? 1Co 6:20 answers this, “for you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.” May all that we think, say, and do, bring God glory and honor every day.
Ps 63:3 Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You.
Ps 86:12 I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore.
Isa 24:15 Therefore glorify the LORD in the dawning light…
Ro 15:6 that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Jo 2:25 And this is the promise that He has promised us--eternal life. Join us next week as a question is asked “What is it?
Below are just a handful of the many verses that speak of “life” in some form or fashion: Ps 27:1 <<A Psalm of David.>> The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? Pr 8:35 For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the LORD; Pr 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, To turn one away from the snares of death. Mt 19:17 … But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." Mr 10:45 "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." Joh 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Joh 6:35 And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. Joh 6:47 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. Joh 6:63 "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. Joh 10:28 "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. Joh 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. Joh 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Joh 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. Joh 17:3 "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. Ga 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Ga 6:8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 1Jo 5:12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 1Jo 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
