Twenty-First Century Crusades?

Beginning May 2^nd of this year, the new Ridley Scott movie, “Kingdom of Heaven” depicting the twelfth-century Crusades was released in no less that 54 countries covering Europe, the Middle and Far East.  In the few short weeks since this release, there have been published a number of books, news articles and editorial pieces covering both the movie and the impact of crusades on current events.  Just what do we know about the Crusades?  What was their purpose?  Who instigated them?  What prompted these military actions?  Who was affected?  How are the crusades linked to events we see unfolding today in both Europe and the Middle East?

Could we see twenty-first century crusades in the near future that will mimic those crusades of almost 1,000 years ago?  Could this be the incident that will fulfill the key prophetic event of armies around Jerusalem we read of in Luke 21:20: And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

Reasons for the Crusades
The most immediate cause for the Crusades was Muslim incursions into previously Christian lands.  The crusades were mainly directed toward Jerusalem and the Christian shrine of the Holy Sepulcher.  In the movie, we see 200,000 Muslim warriors surrounding and overcoming Jerusalem.  The Catholic Church in Western Europe fought the Crusades against heretics or in other words, Muslims because their belief differed from that of the official church.  At this time in Europe was a feudal society controlled by the monarchy, clergy and the knights.  The church had the utmost authority.  The Pope was the head of the church and carried the most religious and political power and influence over the land.  The Crusades were part of the church’s wish to expand its empire.

The Pope was able to grip the whole of Europe with “Crusade Fever”.  Part of his propaganda was to attack the authenticity of the Qur’an and the Prophet Muhammad, who were both tagged imposters, sorcery, evil, satanic and pagan.  The church actually had citizens believing they could pay their penance for their sins by going off and slaughtering believers of other religions.  History records at least nine crusades during the 11^th, 12^th and 13^th centuries.  Several see direct linkage between those crusades and current events affecting most of the world.

Today’s Events Seeded by Crusades
In a recent article in the Los Angeles Times, “Blame the Crusades”, they begin by speaking of the movie itself. “From swords to suicide bombers, the West’s relationship with the Middle East hasn’t changed much in the past millennium.  That’s why the film, ‘Kingdom of Heaven’ struck such a chord.  It rams home the notion that events during the Crusades eerily parallel current world affairs.  The movie ends by noting that in modern times there is again conflict in the Middle East.  That misses the point.  The Crusades aren’t just a true-life allegory of current world conflicts.  In various ways, they’re a major part of the reason those conflicts exist.” 

Later in the article one reads, “The crusades created a mind-set in which Muslim presence would not be tolerated in Europe, which played out violently when Spain expelled its Muslims in 1492.  Popes had long exhorted European Christians to sever all relations with Muslims, a call that echoes to this day.  Newly elected Pope Benedict XVI opposes allowing Turkey into the European Union, saying it runs counter to history; he also deplores European multiculturalism as ‘fleeing from what is one’s own.’”  Our staff writer, Michael Burkert speaks to this in his word from, “Europe’s Tolerance May Soon End.”  Will these events of old be played out again?  In his commentary, Mr. Burkert states:

“Muslim hatred for the European countries and peoples, who have welcomed them over the past fifty years, may soon bring about a reaction that will rock the western world.”
 

“There are indications that the breaking point may come soon.”
 

“European Muslims, through their refusal to assimilate and adopt European customs and traditions, are rapidly setting the stage for a backlash movement that may well see the majority of Europe’s indigenous peoples turning against the Muslim foreigners.” 

Matein Khalid, a Dubai-based investment banker just published an editorial piece on the Crusades.  In it he says, “The Crusades changed both Europe and the Middle East and their echoes, nine centuries later, still resonate in Arab politics.”  “The modern Arab world was shaped by the Crusades as surely as the West was.  While the Frankish knights and feudal lords squandered fortunes in the Holy Land, the kings of Europe became stronger, the genesis of the rise of the nation state in France that culminated in Louis XIV, Napoleon’s conquest of Egypt and, later, Algerie Francals.  The concept of Arab nationalism was unthinkable without the Crusades.”

 Not just Muslims But Jews

When the Popes across these centuries of the Crusades whipped the populace into a murderous frenzy, other non-Catholic groups were targeted.  Jews were killed in both Europe and the Middle East.  Going back to the LA Times article, “Crusaders often wondered why, if they were fighting Muslims in far-off lands, they should leave unmolested other 'infidels' closer to home—Jews.  Thus the Crusades gave rise to the first big waves of violent anti-Semitism in Europe, which would flare for centuries and eventually feed the Nazi Holocaust.  This in turn gave birth to modern Zionism, seen by Muslims as another European imperialistic attack.”

Alan Woods in his recent article, “George W. Bush and the Crusades” quotes the crusaders themselves regarding the Jews:

“We have set out to march a long way to fight the enemies of God in the East, and behold, before our very eyes are his worst foes, the Jews. They must be dealt with first." And again: "You are the descendants of those who killed and hanged our God. Moreover [God] himself said: 'The day will yet dawn when my children will come and avenge my blood.' We are his children and it is our task to carry out his vengeance upon you, for you showed yourselves obstinate and blasphemous towards him ... [God] has abandoned you and has turned his radiance towards us and has made us his own.”  (N. Cohn, The Pursuit of the Millennium, p. 70.)

Economics and the Crusades

As the Crusades got underway, European merchants saw an opportunity to get rich by linking up and taking advantage of Middle Eastern trade routes.  Clearly Europe has a strong economic interest in Israel and the Middle East today.  Quoting form the Alan Woods article again:

“The merchants were even more interested in the success of this venture. The Turks now controlled the lucrative trade routes to the East, like the famous Silk Road. The most Christian merchants of Venice, Genoa and other European ports were completely shut out, and they wanted to get a share of the action. The crusades were their best chance to do this, moreover under the banner of the Almighty. This was an opportunity not to be missed.”

Recent events have shown us Europe’s keen interest in Middle Eastern oil and arms trade.  As world tensions increase, we will see this repeated and may include Europe having to interject itself politically and militarily into Israel and the Middle East.

Twenty-First Century Crusades?  -- What to Look For

My original question was, “could we see events in Europe that would mimic the Crusades and result in a political, religious and military incursion into Israel and the Middle East.”  As with the Crusades, there are many elements, each of which could act as indicators that such an event might take place.

In Europe:
1) Continued tension and backlash against Muslims in Europe.  [reference Euro-Intolerance Word from]
2) Acts of terror increasing throughout Europe.*
3) An increase in anti-Semitism. [reference New Anti-Semitism Word from]
4) Growth and increased political power in the Neo-Nazi movement. [reference Nazi Word from]

From the Vatican and the Pope:
5) The Vatican becoming involved in the political affairs of the EU, including a new constitution that will be embraced by what German chancellor Gerard Schroeder is calling his “inner circle” of fast-track European Union member states. [ reference Power of the Pope Word from]
6) The Pope laying even greater emphasis than John Paul II on both doctrine and authority of the Church.  
7) The Pope taking radical steps to bring all sheep back into the fold and filling the currently empty pews of the Catholic Church.
8) The Vatican demonstrating intolerance for the Muslims in Europe.  Possibility of the Pope speaking negatively toward the Muslim faith, its beliefs and the Qur’an.  He could conceivably call for a new "crusade" against Islam.
9) The Catholic Church getting directly involved in the “Road to Peace” process.
10) A call by the Vatican for Christians throughout the world to make pilgrimages to Jerusalem.  This may or may not be coupled with increased persecutions and attacks against Christians in Jerusalem and throughout the Middle East.
11) The Vatican expressing special interest in the Temple Mount and other holy sites in Jerusalem.
12) A visit by cardinals and/or the Pope himself to Jerusalem.

Military Movements/Build-ups:
13) Continued build-up of the EuroArmy despite initial rejection of constitution. [reference EuroArmy Word from]
14) News stories speaking to possible EU troop movements to Israel and/or the Middle East.* [reference Two-Key Prophecies--Armies Around Jerusalem]
15) The EU taking political and even military steps to insure the flow of oil to Europe.*  [reference United Europe section]

The LA Times article ends with a haunting question as it ends its discussion of the movie depicting the Crusades: “In effect, ‘Kingdom of Heaven’ asks the insipid if sincere question, ‘Can’t we all just get along?’  The more pertinent question is: How do we change the ending of a story whose plot was cast nearly 1,000 years ago?"

Your National ID Card Soon To Come
Security…Without a National ID

 
It’s almost like being hypnotized. Americans don’t want a national ID card, but all the voices are screaming that we have to have one. “It’s the only way to prevent another 9/11. It’s the only way to combat terrorism,” they say.

 
STOP!  Hold on a minute. I think we’ve gotten so close to the trees that we can’t see the forest. We are missing something here!

 
230 Years without a National ID

 We’ve gotten along for 230 years in this nation without a national ID card. Do we really have to, after all this time, suddenly give every American an ID? Do we want a national database with information stored on every citizen that can be pulled up at the click of a computer mouse?

 
I’m sure that’s not what most Americans want. Why do we have to have it then? How have we gotten along for 230 years without being numbered and controlled by a national database? And what has changed that we are now being told that we absolutely must have these instruments of control imposed upon us?
 
What has changed?

 
For the last 230 years, the United States has relied on its borders to provide a safe and secure nation. However, in recent years ‘wiser’ voices have led us down the path of the global village, better known as world government and commonly referred to as globalization. The world planners have told us that all nations are now interdependent and that we must now think globally. Terms like ‘world community’ and ‘international community’ have easily slipped into the global lexicon.

 
How do you rule a world without borders?

 

In this day of interdependence and globalization, how do you control the populace of the world? How can governmental leaders provide security from terrorism for those who they are entrusted to govern?

 
Back when borders were really borders, foreigners (remember that word?) were rare and those who did immigrate to America came to fit in. They learned our language, adopted our culture and converted to our religions. They became Americans.

 
With the onset of globalism and one-worldism, borders have become virtually meaningless. Cultures have intermingled, and nations have lost their identities—especially in America . To suggest that the U.S. is a ‘Christian’ nation evokes howls of outrage from certain elements of society. Our Judeo-Christian values have even been banished from government property by the courts.

 
So if we don’t govern a nation and preserve its values with borders, how can it be done? A recent novel idea has emerged around the world. The U.S. government has decided to give everyone a national ID with a number that can be entered into a national (soon to be global) database. Since all Americans already have social security numbers, the government has mandated that you must give your social security number in order to receive your new national ID.

 
Once we have a national ID card that requires a number, we can be controlled by the use of databases and computers. If our ID is unacceptable, we won’t board an airplane, open a bank account or hold a job. Amazing!

 
Borders are being replaced with ID cards. We used to travel freely within the borders of our nation. Now we must be tracked everywhere, and freedom has now been replaced by control.

 
The price of globalization is constant surveillance.

 
It’s the borders, stupid!

 
Do I dare say the obvious? We’ve gotten along without a national ID for 230 years because we’ve had enforceable and defensible borders. The globalists would like to tell us that this just isn’t possible, but it’s been possible for 230 years!

 

Our government can send a man to the moon but seemingly can’t figure out how to defend our borders—something we’ve been doing for 230 years. Amazing!

 Borders aren’t really that hard. Our friend Israel knows how to maintain a border. It’s quite simple. In rural open areas, they build an eight or ten foot fence with a dirt road running alongside of it. Every two to four hours, the border patrol comes along in a jeep, equipped with a road sweeper. As the border patrol drives along the road, they look for footprints - the telltale sign that someone has crossed the fence and entered the country. If footprints are spotted, the alarm is sounded and the search is on.

 But we couldn’t possibly afford to build a fence along our entire 2,000-mile border, the argument goes.

 
Sure we could! If Israel , a nation of 6 million can build a 450-mile fence, surely a nation of 300 million can build a 2,000-mile fence…unless we don’t want to. Perhaps the powers-that-be fear the establishment of defensible borders would bring an end to their utopian dream of global society.

 
Drunk on the wine of globalization

 

Are we so drunk on the wine of globalization that we can’t recognize it isn’t working? Will anyone dare stand up and state the obvious… “The emperor has no clothes on?”

 
It’s time to admit that world government doesn’t work and that the nation-state has worked nicely for 230 years. In the nation-state, you don’t need an ID card. You can go anywhere you want within the safe and secure borders of your nation. Now that is freedom!

 
Yes, there is an answer to international terrorism that doesn’t require the surrendering of hard-won freedoms. It’s just happens to be the answer that world leaders don’t want to hear. One-world government (globalization) simply doesn’t work. Globalization has wrecked the backbone of the American economy. It has brought high gas prices and reduced wages.

 Bring back secure borders and pass a law against a national ID and against the establishment of a national database.

 Did I hear someone say, “Give me liberty, or give me death?”

Human rights groups are raising alarms over a new law passed by the Iranian parliament that would require the country's Jews and Christians [The end time beast of Scripture continues their expanded attack on both houses of Israel. It is sad that Islam knows the two house reality but Messianic Judaism still is sucking their thumb over it!] to wear coloured badges to identify them and other religious minorities as non-Muslims.

What did I tell you folks. if that's not the beast marking the "infidels" then what time zone are we in?

"This is reminiscent of the Holocaust," said Rabbi Marvin Hier, the dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles. "Iran is moving closer and closer to the ideology of the Nazis."

Iranian expatriates living in Canada yesterday confirmed reports that the Iranian parliament, called the Islamic Majlis, passed a law this week setting a dress code for all Iranians, requiring them to wear almost identical "standard Islamic garments."

The law, which must still be approved by Iran's "Supreme Guide" Ali Khamenehi before being put into effect, also establishes special insignia to be worn by non-Muslims. When they want to put their god's name on you will you let them? The mark is the NAME of Allah, as Yahshua seals His people in YHWH's Name, so another shall COME IN HIS OWN NAME (Mohammed the final Caliph in the name of Mohammed/Allah)TO SEAL HIS PEOPLE. Have you picked up on this yet brethren? Still think the Free Masons and Jesuits are the problem? Has the church put that on you also?

Iran's roughly 25,000 Jews Come out of her my people! would have to sew a yellow strip of cloth on the front of their clothes, while Christians would wear red badges and Zoroastrians would be forced to wear blue cloth.

"There's no reason to believe they won't pass this," said Rabbi Hier. "It will certainly pass unless there's some sort of international outcry over this."

Bernie Farber, the chief executive of the Canadian Jewish Congress, said he was "stunned" by the measure. "We thought this had gone the way of the dodo bird, but clearly in Iran everything old and bad is new again," he said. "It's state-sponsored religious discrimination."

Ali Behroozian, an Iranian exile living in Toronto, said the law could come into force as early as next year.

It would make religious minorities immediately identifiable and allow Muslims to avoid contact with non-Muslims.

Mr. Behroozian said it will make life even more difficult for Iran's small pockets of Jewish, Christian and other religious minorities -- the country is overwhelmingly Shi'ite Muslim. "They have all been persecuted for a while, but these new dress rules are going to make things worse for them," he said.

The new law was drafted two years ago, but was stuck in the Iranian parliament until recently when it was revived at the behest of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Islam teaches that the final Caliph-Mahdi-Mohammed, or the bible's Anti Messiah, will came to destroy Islam's enemies (both houses), and many Islamic scholars believe he will be named Mohammed. Hmmmm.

A spokesman for the Iranian Embassy in Ottawa refused to comment on the measures. "This is nothing to do with anything here," said a press secretary who identified himself as Mr. Gharmani.

"We are not here to answer such questions."

The Simon Wiesenthal Centre has written to Kofi Annan, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, protesting the Iranian law and calling on the international community to bring pressure on Iran to drop the measure.

"The world should not ignore this," said Rabbi Hier. "The world ignored Hitler for many years -- he was dismissed as a demagogue, they said he'd never come to power -- and we were all wrong."

Mr. Farber said Canada and other nations should take action to isolate Mr. Ahmadinejad in light of the new law, which he called "chilling," and his previous string of anti-Semitic statements.

"There are some very frightening parallels here," he said. "It's time to start considering how we're going to deal with this person."

Approaching 6 Million

When something happens for the first time in 1,871 years, it is worth

noting. In A.D. 70, and again in 135, the Roman Empire brutally put down

Jewish revolts in Judea, destroying Jerusalem, killing hundreds of

thousands of Jews and sending hundreds of thousands more into slavery

and exile. For nearly two millennia, the Jews wandered the world. And

now, in 2006, for the first time since then, there are once again more

Jews living in Israel -- the successor state to Judea -- than in any

other place on Earth.

Israel's Jewish population has just passed 5.6 million. America's Jewish

population was about 5.5 million in 1990, dropped to about 5.2 million

10 years later and is in a precipitous decline that, because of low

fertility rates and high levels of assimilation, will cut that number in

half by mid-century.

When 6 million European Jews were killed in the Holocaust, only two main

centers of Jewish life remained: America and Israel. That binary star

system remains today, but a tipping point has just been reached. With

every year, as the Jewish population continues to rise in Israel and

decline in America (and in the rest of the Diaspora), Israel

increasingly becomes the center of the Jewish world.

An epic restoration, and one of the most improbable. To take just one of

the remarkable achievements of the return: Hebrew is the only "dead"

language in recorded history to have been brought back to daily use as

the living language of a nation. But there is a price and a danger to

this transformation. It radically alters the prospects for Jewish

survival.

For 2,000 years, Jews found protection in dispersion -- protection not

for individual communities, which were routinely persecuted and

massacred, but protection for the Jewish people as a whole. Decimated

here, they could survive there. They could be persecuted in Spain and

find refuge in Constantinople. They could be massacred in the Rhineland

during the Crusades or in the Ukraine during the Khmelnytsky

Insurrection of 1648-49 and yet survive in the rest of Europe.

Hitler put an end to that illusion. He demonstrated that modern

anti-Semitism married to modern technology -- railroads, disciplined

bureaucracies, gas chambers that kill with industrial efficiency --

could take a scattered people and "concentrate" them for annihilation.

The establishment of Israel was a Jewish declaration to a world that had

allowed the Holocaust to happen -- after Hitler had made his intentions

perfectly clear -- that the Jews would henceforth resort to

self-protection and self-reliance. And so they have, building a Jewish

army, the first in 2,000 years, that prevailed in three great wars of

survival (1948-49, 1967 and 1973).

But in a cruel historical irony, doing so required concentration --

putting all the eggs back in one basket, a tiny territory hard by the

Mediterranean, eight miles wide at its waist. A tempting target for

those who would finish Hitler's work.

His successors now reside in Tehran. The world has paid ample attention

to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's declaration that Israel must be

destroyed. Less attention has been paid to Iranian leaders'

pronouncements on exactly how Israel would be "eliminated by one storm,"

as Ahmadinejad has promised.

Former president Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the presumed moderate of

this gang, has explained that "the use of a nuclear bomb in Israel will

leave nothing on the ground, whereas it will only damage the world of

Islam." The logic is impeccable, the intention clear: A nuclear attack

would effectively destroy tiny Israel, while any retaliation launched by

a dying Israel would have no major effect on an Islamic civilization of

a billion people stretching from Mauritania to Indonesia.

As it races to acquire nuclear weapons, Iran makes clear that if there

is any trouble, the Jews will be the first to suffer. "We have announced

that wherever [in Iran] America does make any mischief, the first place

we target will be Israel," said Gen. Mohammad Ebrahim Dehghani, a top

Revolutionary Guards commander. Hitler was only slightly more direct

when he announced seven months before invading Poland that, if there was

another war, "the result will be . . . the annihilation of the Jewish

race in Europe."

Last week Bernard Lewis, America's dean of Islamic studies, who just

turned 90 and remembers the 20th century well, confessed that for the

first time he feels it is 1938 again. He did not need to add that in

1938, in the face of the gathering storm -- a fanatical, aggressive,

openly declared enemy of the West, and most determinedly of the Jews --

the world did nothing.

When Iran's mullahs acquire their coveted nukes in the next few years,

the number of Jews in Israel will just be reaching 6 million. Never

again?

At the conclusion of his discourse, he called upon Allah to quickly usher in the re-emergence of the "Twelfth" or "Hidden Imam," sometimes referred to as the "Mahdi." The fanatical leader later claimed that while he spoke to that august body, he was surrounded by a halo of light. Mr. Ahmadinejad regaled a local ayatollah with the story of how "The leaders of the world" stared at him during the time he spoke. He further claimed that they were unable to blink or turn away, as though some unseen force held them in a trance-like state. "When I say they didn't bat an eyelid, I'm not exaggerating, because I was looking at them," intoned Ahmadinejad. Ahmadinejad is a Shia Muslim. Many of them believe that the Twelfth Imam, or Mahdi, the last in a line of saints descended from Ali, the founder of their sect, vanished down a well near Jamkaran, Iran, in A.D. 941. According to their beliefs, he went into a state of "occultation," like the sun being hidden behind the clouds; and, after a stormy period of apocalyptic wars, the clouds will part, and the "sun" (the Mahdi) will be revealed. They believe that when he is released from his imprisonment, the entire world will submit to Islam. The world may smirk as they hear the president of Iran talking of the return of the Mahdi and think it is just a bunch of religious foolishness. But, he is dead serious. Not only does he believe it, but the tens of thousands of mullahs controlling ancient Persia believe it also. It is their mission from God. But just who is this "Mahdi," this Hidden Imam? Some thought it was the Ayatollah Khomeini. In fact, when he returned to Iran in February 1979 following the overthrow of the Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlevi, the roads leading into Tehran were lined with nearly 2 million Shia Muslims screaming "al-Muntazar." The grand ayatollah was quick to deny that he was "al-Muntazar," one of the names given to the Hidden Imam. In other words, many thought Khomeini was the awakened Mahdi. Khomeini did, however, explain to his followers that he was the forerunner, the one who had come to open the way for the Hidden Imam to make his reappearance. The Hidden Imam, upon his unveiling, will, according Iran's constitution, assume leadership in the Islamic republic. All will acquiesce to his authority in what is essentially an end-time paradigm based on what some call the Muslim messiah. Ahmadinejad's belief in this Hidden Imam is so compelling that he may well be persuaded to go to any lengths, including a nuclear attack on Israel and/or the United States, to precipitate an apocalyptic event, a means to an end. Initially, Ahmadinejad's threats seemed but the idle ranting of a megalomaniac. But now, armed with the capability to produce nuclear weapons, Iran will be a menace with which to be reckoned. The spirit of the Grand Ayatollah Khomeini lives on in Iran. This is the same Khomeini who said in 1981, "I say let Iran go up in smoke, provided Islam emerges triumphant in the rest of the world." The ummah or Muslims worldwide are comprised of Sunni and Shia Muslims. The two different sects evolved following the death of Muhammad. The Sunnis readily accepted his successor, while the Shia Muslims demanded their leader be a direct descendant of Muhammad. This personage is known to the Shia as "Ali." Hence the designation, "The Party of Ali." Through the ages, additional subdivisions in the Shia sect have pitted one group against another, all led by recognized descendants of Muhammad. Their individual designations are derived from the number of the imam which they follow. Thus, Iran is comprised mainly of followers of the "Twelfth," or the Hidden Imam. He succeeded Al-Hassan al-Askari who died in A.D. 874. Shiite Muslims believe that the Twelfth Imam disappeared down a well near Jamkaran in A.D. 941, and will emerge from this location at his Second Coming. But first, they believe, the world will go through great calamities and upheavals. This "apocalypse" will set the conditions for the Mahdi's return. The Hidden Imam is known by several monikers, which translate to "expected one," the "hidden one" and, of course, Mahdi (promised one). His mystique is enhanced by the legend that the young successor in the lineage of Muhammad was secreted because he was unaccepted by the majority of Muslims. He will apparently be kept in seclusion until the day he emerges to reunite Muslims, conquer the world and establish an Islamic caliphate. Ahmadinejad has taken up the banner of the Hidden Imam. His hate-filled rhetoric aimed at the Jews and America is stirring fanatical Muslims the world over. On April 20, a group calling itself the Islamic Thinkers Society rallied near the Israeli Embassy in Queens, N.Y. Carrying placards and banners picturing an Islamic flag flying over the White House, they shouted such vile pronouncements as: Zionists, Zionists You will pay! The Wrath of Allah is on its way! Israeli Zionists You shall pay! The Wrath of Allah is on its way! The mushroom cloud is on its way! The real Holocaust is on its way! We will not accept the United Nations, they are the criminals themselves They get paid by the Israeli and the U.S. government to do their job. We don't recognize United Nations as a body; We only recognize Allah. Israel won't last long ... Indeed, Allah will repeat the Holocaust right on the soil of Israel Islam will dominate the world Islam is the only solution. Another mushroom cloud, right in the midst of Israel! As days pass, Ahmadinejad becomes more defiant. It is as if he is daring the nations of the world to try to stop him. How far will he go? Will he, indeed, launch a murderous attack against Israel or the United States in a misguided attempt to see his dream of the return of the Hidden Imam come to fruition? Osama bin Laden recording released on al-Jazeera network

Al-Qaida has already obtained nuclear suitcase weapons from the Russian black market, weapons tested in Afghanistan in 2000, and they may have already been forward-deployed inside the U.S., according to the only journalist to interview Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri in the wake of Sept. 11.

Last week, Hamid Mir's credibility skyrocketed when he accurately predicted in Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin and later in WND the imminent release of a new recorded communiqué from bin Laden through al-Jazeera, the Arabic TV network. Two days later, bin Laden's tape was the focus of international news coverage.

"If you think that my information and analysis about bin Laden's location is correct," said Hamid Mir, "then please don't underestimate my analysis about his nuclear threat also."

Mir said that he met with an Egyptian engineer last week who lost an eye after one of bin Laden's nuclear tests in the Kunar province of Pakistan. The Pakistani journalist said the encounter with the engineer greatly disturbed and depressed him since it provided further assurance that a nuclear nightmare for America is about to dawn.

Mir believes that an "American Hiroshima" will occur as soon as the U.S. launches an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.

"Al-Qaida and Iran," he says, "have a long, secret relationship." "American Hiroshima" is the name al-Qaida leaders chose for their long-planned nuclear attack on the U.S.

The relationship between Iran and bin Laden dates back to June 21, 1996, when bin Laden attended a terror summit in Tehran. The gathering attracted terror leaders from various places throughout the world, including Ramadan Shallah (the Palestinian Islamic Jihad), Ahmad Salah (Egyptian Islamic Jihad), Imad al-Alami and Mustafa al-Liddawi (Hamas), Ahmad Jibril (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine), Abdallah Ocalan (the Kurdish People Party), Muhammad Ali Ahmad (al Qaida), and Imad Mugniyah (Hezbollah). The summit resulted in the creation of the "Committee of Three" that would meet on a regular basis for the "coordination, planning and execution of attacks" against the United States and Israel. The committee members were Ahmad Salah, Imad Mugniyah and bin Laden.

Mir's position that al-Qaida's nuclear weapons may have already been forward-deployed to the United States confirms the report of Sharif al-Masri, a key al-Qaida operative who was arrested in Pakistan in November 2000.

Al Masri, an Egyptian national with ties to al-Zawahiri, said that al-Qaida had made arrangements to smuggle nuclear weapons and supplies to Mexico. From Mexico, he said, the weapons were to be transported across the border and into the United States with the help of a Latino street gang.

Mir also maintains that numerous sleeper agents are in place in major cities throughout the United States to prepare for the nuclear holocaust. Many of these agents, he says, are Algerians and Chechens who obtained European passports and are posing as Christian and Jews.

He further says that many of these agents have been in the United States since bin Laden's issuance of his "Declaration of War on Americans Occupying the Country of the Two Holy Places." That fatwa was issued Aug. 23, 1996.

American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has estimated that, in order to

preserve credibility, the UN Security Council must be strong in the face of

Iran's probable rejection of the April 28 deadline for Teheran to suspend

uranium enrichment.

The first Euro-Arab Forum (April 26-28) has adopted the Declaration of

Paris, aimed essentially at the pursuit of ''dialogue between civilisations.

The unjustified absence of the European Commission from the undertaking of

this symposium has been deeply felt by the participants''.

 

This statement also mentioned "the self-determination of peoples, notably

the fight against foreign occupation and the choice of government which they

consider most appropriate; the importance of cooperating with the UN in

order for it to adopt measures to fight against religious discrimination;

the necessity to convert the Middle East into an area free of all weapons of

mass destruction; the danger of international terrorism; the importance of

the process of modernization, liberation and reciprocity". The cartoons

depicting Mohammad were condemned by the speakers. Anti-Israeli diatribes

were express ed by the speakers. The next forum will take place in Riyadh

(Saudi Arabia).

Iran, President Mahmoud Ahmedinadjad said that, 50 years after World War II,

''Israel continues to kill Palestinians to avenge itself on the crimes of
