All Ages Vacation Bible School

On the Move is a unique heritage-based, multicultural Vacation Bible School! The curriculum focuses on how God’s spirit gave momentum to the Civil Rights Movement in different places, drawing the people of God toward greatness through blessing, justice, truth, and reconciliation. The lessons promote God’s power for life in building up the community, as persons are reconciled to one another and to Jesus Christ.

Summer Youth

Life Skills

We are glad to have had just over 20 youth participate in Life Skills.  They were: Andre, Ayanna, Chase, Crystal, David, Elizabeth, Felix, Justin, Kimberly, Lena, Liikina, Nautica, Nick, Olivia, Pookie, Shakira, Shamena, Shaquiana, Timmy, Tyda, Vida, Yayory.   This year the Life Skills group worked hard to lead VBS one week.  They did face painting at the National Night Out event held at the Third Dist. Police station on Aug. 4^th.  They helped set up and serve at the Central City Churches picnic.  We spent a session learning and discussing prayer.  We spent time talking about stereotypes and prejudice and watched the movie “The Secret Life of Bees”.  For their participation in this ministry the youth receive a funds to buy school supplies.  I want to thank LaTanya Jordan and Kate Vongsoury for serving as co-coordinators with me.  Our summer Life Skills ministry is supported by a generous grant from the Siebert Lutheran Foundation.
