Youth

The mission and goal of GOYA is to lead our young people into experiencing and maturing in the Holy Orthodox Faith. By developing a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ through becoming active sacramental members of the living Church, our teenagers will experience for themselves wisdom and grace in God.

The major developmental task of a teenager is to achieve or form a sense of identity- “who they are” in relationship to others, the world, and God. It has been said that adolescence is a time of exploration, after which young people emerge with commitment to certain values, goals, behaviors, and beliefs.

Parish Nurse

A parish nurse (PN) is a registered nurse with a minimum of 2 years experience that works in a faith community to address health issues of its members and other members in the broader community or neighborhood. The experience the nurse has gathered working in other medical areas/specialties aids the nurse with assessment of health status, health needs, and collaboration with health agencies. What makes this specialty different is the conscious partnering of health issues with faith of the patient and patient’s family. Parish nursing emphasizes health and healing within a faith community. The philosophy of parish nursing embraces four major concepts: spiritual formation; professionalism; health and wholeness; and community, incorporating culture and diversity.
