A Great Place To Get Connected!
Celebrating New Life In Jesus Christ... Empowering People To Be Like Him!

Crossing Borders: GET CONNECTED

Crossing Borders is about believers pushing past their comfort zones and immersing themselves in the lives of fellow believes across the nation and globe.  It is our belief that God has called all believers everywhere to be a part of evangelism throughout their communities, states, nations and the world at large.?

One of the ways we do this is through the promotion of the Dollar a Day program, designed to help families and individuals understand who the missionaries are in the Brethren Church, where they minister, and most importantly help develop relationships with brothers and sisters around the globe.

Each month we emphasize a different mission field both in U.S. and the International field so be sure to check back often to see who is featured.

LOCAL MISSIONS: Getting Connected in the Community!

Hot chocolate for a cold night: The adults aren't the only ones involved in mission work so are our Kids and Youth.  Over the holidays the BKIC (primary grades) worked together with the adults to put together shoe boxes for their outreach with Operation Christmas Child.  The goal was 200 boxes stuffed full of toys, hygiene items like tooth brushes, wash clothes and soap as well as candy and other fun items.  These boxes then have special books placed in them explaining the incredible story of Jesus and His love for them. After that they're shipped all over the world to children who have never experienced Christmas and often live in fear and poverty.  The kids and BKIC leaders worked incredibly hard and not only met their goal of 200 boxes, but surpassed it to put together an astounding 245 boxes.  What an awsome way to "get connected!"

Meanwhile The youth (BYIC) lead by Pastor Jon Bouldin and his awsome team of volunteer leaders worked together to make a difference in the local community by offering a hot steaming cup of hot chocolate to people attending the annual Christmas Parade.  Christ calls us to be light to the world around us and when possible meet the needs both physical and spiritual by handing a cup of cold water in his name.  In the winter that's not always practical, but for those at the parade the hot chocolate sure helped to warm the body as well as the spirit.  Over the course of two hours they handed out roughly 400 cups.  That's a lot of chocolate.  Way to go guys!

Mixing it up!

Ok who wants some Hot Chocolate?

Enjoying the fruits of their labor.

Brethren Missionaries from Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Spain and the U.S.

Mission Highlight: Argentina

Our featured Mission Point this month is Argentina and boy is God really moving there.  Already there are well over 30 plus churches being served by the Brethren with more people being called into full time ministry every day.  Even better is the fact that more and more often these men and women are leaving the safety of home and hearth and venturing into new areas and fields.  For instance one of the churches is almost predominantly Japanese.  The worship is sung in Japanese, Spanish (Argentinean style) and even some English.

Even more amazing is the missionary mindset of these people.  The works in Paraguay, Colombia and Chile’ were all started by an out pouring from our brothers and sisters in Argentina.  In recent years they have expanded their sights and begun a new church in Spain that is really taking root.

Add to that a seminary called South American Theological Seminary (STS) that trains men and women from all walks of life to become ministers of Gods word in their secular jobs as well as those engaging in full time service.

Isn't amazing to know that we have family all over the world that we're "connected" to through the saving grace of Jesus Christ!
