How to Choose a Local Church

What To Look For:

I would like to begin going to church, but I don’t know which one to go to. How do I decide on a church?

When you are looking for a local church, you may want to visit several prior to selecting one. Here are a few things to consider:

  • An extremely important aspect to consider is that the Bible is preached or taught. The speaker should based their message on what God says in the Bible. You want to learn about God,  His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit so that you can apply the truths of the Bible to your daily life.

  • Another aspect is the music and time of worship including the duration. Try to find a place where you are comfortable with the music, prayer, time of worship, and duration of worship so that you can concentrate on worshipping God without any distractions.  It does not take God hours to move.

  • Is the atmosphere friendly? It is important to fellowship with others
and to get involved in the life of the church as well as the community where the church resides - to be encouraged and encourage others. Everyone has skills, gifts or qualities that can be used to meet felt needs.

  • If you have children or grandchildren, you should consider if there are programs and activities for them to learn about God. Also consider whether there are other children for yours to make friends with.

After you have visited a few churches, decide on one. Remember – there is no perfect church!

It is made up of real people.

Enjoy it.
