SCACC has been active in New Orleans since 1845.  We are a small congregation hoping to grow and prosper in 2008!

We hold Worship Service at 3:00pm every Sunday and host Bible Study led by one of our members every Friday night at 7:00pm.

Our goal is to rebuild New Orleans on the Promises of God!

Frankly Speaking

I want to begin this month’s newsletter article by asking a question.  “What does it mean to y’all to be Church in the world today?”  Now I want you to really think about that for a while and see just what it really means deep down inside.  Take about ten minutes and brainstorm.  Maybe get out a piece of paper and write down the question at the top and then write down everything that comes to mind, no matter how insignificant it might seem.  Now, having done that, see if you can group your thoughts.  See if there are some patterns that might show what really has meaning for you in church.  There may be some (or several) that are just way out in left field.  Don’t get rid of those, but group them together.  Is there a particular theme for each of your groups?  Try to put that theme into a phrase or heading.  Now let’s prioritize those phrases or headings.  These now become the main points of an outline with the ideas as sub-points of the phrase or heading.  What you’ve just done is put together a plan of action in a way for the church as you see it.  So, what do I want you to do with those “plan of actions?”  I want you to see how St. Charles Ave. Christian Church fits into that framework.  Is SCACC meeting the objectives of being church?  If the church is, how is it meeting those objectives?  If the church is not, how can the church meet those objectives?  What I’m specifically asking all of you is this:  Why does Saint Charles Avenue Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) need to exist?  Is there a reason for our being other than just to exist?  If we cannot answer those queries, the we have to answer in the negative…NO, Saint Charles Avenue Christian Church does NOT need to exist.  I believe that in the very short time that I have been associated with SCACC that I see a definite need for SCACC to exist.  I’m not going to tell you here why I believe that (don’t want to do your work for you!).  I hope you will take the time to do this exercise and maybe even share your thoughts with the community of faith.  Blessings to all of you and I will see you Sunday!

Congratulations!

Rev. Frank recently met with the Regional Committee on Ministry and they overwhelmingly agreed to license him in the Great River Region!  Rev. Dr. Michael Elmore will be coming in June to lead Rev. Frank's Covenant of Calling service!  An invitation will be sent out and the information regarding the service will be posted here.  This is a huge honor for Rev. Frank and a BIG step forward for SCACC!  Congratulations Rev. Frank!!!
