RESTORATION
“He restores my soul” (Psalm 23:3)
Restoration: to bring back into existence or use; to be brought back to an original state
Perhaps the best way to describe restoration to individual believers would be to use the word God used both in the Old Testament and the New Testament: life.In Deuteronomy 30:20, Moses said of the Lord, “He is your life.”In Colossians 3:4, Paul speaks of “Christ who is our life.”And Jesus said, “I have come that you may have life, and that more abundantly” (John ).But no words exceed the splendor or completeness of David’s when he said of the Lord, “He restores my soul” (Psalm 23:3).
Restoration, to the individual, means the replacing of spiritual death with spiritual life.Ezekiel 36:25-28 graphically describes just such a transplant.You may have been dead to the things of God and consumed with your own passions and desires, but when God gets your attention, He will make all things new (Philippians ).Your past, with all of the pitfalls, mistakes, regrets, and baggage will be forgotten.God will give you a new beginning and turn the impossible into reality.Restoration is a continuous process that will encompass our spiritual, social, physical, and mental health.
