web_builder Tips: How to Schedule Content

Scheduling Content

Make the most of your time by scheduling your content ahead of the date you want it to appear... then let ForMinistry take care of the rest!

See this eTip online...

We have built into your website a great tool to save you time, especially during those big seasonal occasions such as Christmas, New Years, and even Easter.

The Scheduling Content tool gives you the freedom to create and edit content anytime before it's scheduled to appear on your website. The tool gives you the power to select the particular day and time you want your content to appear on your site, and keep it there for a determined period of time until you want it to come down from your website. You can also schedule content to appear daily.

For example, this Easter season you may have some Passion week content you want available from Sunday, March 20th to Sunday March 26th. You can create a "Passion Week Daily Account" text item now, and schedule it to appear on your site from March 20th 12:00am to March 26th 11:59pm. Then you can sit back and the ForMinistry Web Builder Tool will automatically make the changes and put up the right content for you. It's that simple!

So here's what you do:

Scheduling Content

Scheduling allows control over when certain content items are displayed and for how long.

a. Click clock icon in column across from Edit This Item.

b. Choose either a Fixed Schedule or a Daily Schedule for an item.

c. Fixed items display once at a fixed time and date. Enter Start Date and Time and End Date and Time.

d. Daily items display every day at a set time for a specified duration (days, weeks, months, etc.). Enter the Start Time Each Day and the End Time Each Day, as well as the Start and Stop Date.

e. Click on Apply Schedule when finished.

f. Repeat for other items you wish to have scheduled.

If there are items you want to have set aside for the time you want the above to be visible, just schedule those items to run until the time you want to switch to the above.

Preview Scheduled Content

In edit mode, you will see all your content (scheduled and unscheduled). When you are in preview mode, you will only see items that are scheduled (or not scheduled at all) at the present time and date. In order to see what your page will look like with your scheduled material up (at the date you have scheduled for):

a. Click on Advanced Page at top of window

b. Select Preview Future from scrolling pick-list.
c. Click in fields and type date and time for preview.
d. Click on Preview, when done click on Exit Preview

Until next time...
