Happy New Year!
In light of the beginning of 2004, this month’s eTips focuses on the ever-dreaded issue of scheduling and yearly planning. Not to worry, because we’ll show you an easy way to put up a calendar (using the table function) showing church events, activities, important dates to remember, etc., on your ForMinistry Web site.
Some things to keep in mind before you start:
- For any table item, determine how many rows and columns you will need.
- Have a general idea of how you want the table to look, including size and basic formatting.
Now you’re ready to start.
Make sure you are in Edit Mode.
- This will bring up the Page Controls that enable you to add text and images to your page.
- You will see the Item Controls around each column.

- Click on Text and you will see the image window displayed.
- Click on Create a new text item.
- When the content window opens, place your text in the text space provided. (NOTE: it will probably be easier to place text items such as a title, date, and miscellaneous text first and then place the calendar in the area you would like it to go.
- Place the cursor in the area you want to insert the table, then click on the Table Icon
. - Select the appropriate information: (when finished, click OK)
- Row and Column number. (NOTE: if you want a header row that includes the days of the week – “Monday, Tuesday, etc.” add one to the row total.)
- Width – either a percent of the total space or a certain number of pixels.
- Alignment – keep the alignment to “Not Set” unless you want the rest of the text to wrap around the table. Use the alignment formatting buttons after to set the table alignment.
- Border – how thick you want the border around the table. If you don’t want a border, change the number to zero.
- Cell Padding – the amount of white space between the text within each cell and the border around it.
- Cell Spacing – the amount of white space between the entire table and anything else around it.
Insert text in each cell (for example, the date, events on that particular day, etc.). When finished, click on Save and Update.
