A custom domain name is a Web address, such as MyChurch.com or MyChurch.org, that represents you or your organization. Once you purchase a domain name through our partner www.GetYourChurchDomain.com, you own the exclusive rights to that name as long as you continue to pay the registration fee. You can make your domain name point to your ForMinistry site or any other Web site you have created.

When you create a Web site using ForMinistry, a unique site ID is automatically generated by our system using information specific to your church, such as country, state, denomination, etc. (ex. 1) We realize that the resulting Web address (ex. 2) is difficult to remember. These site IDs were never intended to be publicized. They are simply the necessary result of a system that allows ForMinistry to create potentially hundreds of thousands of distinct church Web sites.

You are not required to purchase a custom domain name in order to have a ForMinistry Web site. However, you will be well-served if you acquire a Web address that captures your church's name and is easy to remember for folks who see it in on your business cards, stationery, service bulletins, signage and print advertising or hear it on the radio.

Three Step Process

To get your church domain name, follow these three simple steps:

  1. Go to our partner www.GetYourChurchDomain.com and sign up for your free account.
  2. After you have done that, you can purchase your domain namethrough this service, and any other features you like.
  3. After the domain has been purchased, please follow the directions below to add the domain name to your ForMinistry-powered Web site.

  1. Log in to your ForMinistry-powered Web site.
  2. Click on Advanced Site and Add/Remove Domain Names.

  3. In the field labeled "New Domain:", type in the domain name you purchased.
  4. Click on Add New Domain Name.* (see sample picture below)
  5. Make an entry for both the www and non-www version of your domain name (Ex. www.frederickchurch.org and frederickchurch.org)

* If you see the error message below, please wait 24 hours for the domain name to resolve correctly, and then follow the steps above.
